With the recent passage of Bill C-16, our government has finally taken a concrete step to protect the trans community from discrimination. For our friends, family members and colleagues who are trans, two-spirit or gender-diverse, this is a momentous and hard-fought victory.
Progress : Support for trans employees
Last week, Public Services and Procurement Canada released a guide called Support for trans employees. The guide is aimed at transgender, two-spirit and gender-diverse employees as well as colleagues and managers who wish to actively work towards a supportive workplace.
Reignite Learning Series
CAPE members play a critical role in defending the public interest and in supporting policies that reflect basic values of fairness and equality. The CAPE Education Committee is pleased to announce the launch of Reignite, a learning series meant to contribute to discussion and debate on important economic and social questions to enable CAPE members to provide fearless, evidence-based advice in the interest of the public.

Information on salary adjustments on July 12 and on retroactive pay
Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) adjusted EC and TR payroll records the weekend of June 24 to begin paying employees in these groups at their new rates for the pay period ending June 28.

Usurpation of CAPE intellectual property
The authorized domain names for CAPE’s official website are “www.acep-cape.ca” and “www.cape-acep.ca”. CAPE is concerned that the domain name “www.cape-acep.com” is confusingly similar to its authorized domain names and may be misleading to CAPE members and members of the public, particularly since the website has also featured CAPE’s graphics and logo in the past.
