TR Bargaining - Patience is key!
The parties met on May 17, 18 and 19. The Employer and CAPE continued to present their respective proposals, as well as counter-proposals on various issues. In addition, CAPE tabled its pay position, which takes into account the current economic situation.

The Employment Equity Act Review: CAPE makes its case before the Task Force
On July 14, 2021, the Government of Canada launched a Task Force to review the Employment Equity Act to study the Act and consult with stakeholders, communities and Canadians on issues related to employment equity. The goal is for the Task Force to make “concrete, independent and evidence-based recommendations to the Minister of Labour on how to modernize the Act.”
National Tour: Consulting and Engaging Locals across Canada
CAPE’s President, Greg Phillips is touring Canada in person this spring to connect with Locals across the country, hosting hybrid meetings that follow public health guidelines. The meetings are meant to provide Locals with updates on key issues and more broadly, to hear from them and to better understand their needs.

On Friday, April 22, CAPE President Greg Phillips met with Bloc Québécois party whip Claude DeBellefeuille, also a member of the Board of Internal Economy, and Mario Beaulieu, Official Languages critic and Vice-Chair, Standing Committee on Official Languages, to review CAPE’s proposed solutions.
