Canadian Jewish Heritage Month 2022

Canadian Jewish Heritage Month creates opportunities for all of us to celebrate and honour Jewish culture and faith and to bring the spotlight on its contributions to Canadian history and society. Canada can be proud of being the home to the third largest Jewish community in the world.

We also take the moment to call on all Canadians to stand up against hate and antisemitism, both in society and in the workplace. By celebrating and embracing diversity, we can counter the effects of hate and intolerance.

Hate crimes targeting Jewish people accounted for 62 per cent of crimes against a religion in 2020, and have increased five per cent from the previous report. But there are groups working for positive developments. Created in the Spring of 2021, the Jewish Public Servants’ Network helps connect Jewish public service employees, and advocate for a more inclusive federal workplace for all.

Let’s continue to work together to celebrate Jewish Canadians while promoting inclusion and treasuring our diversity through education and awareness.
