As a follow up to our January 15 message about the implementation of a special levy to strengthen the Defence Fund, as voted on by members at the 2024 AGM, we would like to inform you about an error and the correction to be made this summer.
The special levy was intended to be $5 per pay period, or $10 per month, starting March 1, 2025, through December 2025. However, it was mistakenly entered as $5 per month instead.
CAPE has requested that the Treasury Board adjust dues starting July 1, 2025, for the remainder of the year to make up for the shortfall caused by the error.
As a result, dues will increase by $13.33 per month from July 1 until the end of 2025, instead of the originally planned $10 per month. The overall impact on the Defence Fund will remain the same, and the special levy will conclude as scheduled at the end of December 2025.
