PRESS CONFERENCE: Coalition of unions, community organizations launch ‘Cities Reimagined: Remote Work Transformation Pledge’

WHAT: A coalition of unions and community organizations representing tens of thousands of residents in the National Capital Region are holding a press conference to launch the ‘Cities Reimagined: Remote Work Transformation Pledge’.

Aside from the many benefits to workers, including improved work-life balance, lower stress levels, and increased opportunities for workers with disabilities, remote work holds the promise of transforming our cities. Reducing our reliance on office buildings means reducing gridlock, opening prime land for new development, building more housing, and creating a city that works better for everyone.

The groups hope the pledge will create a positive discussion around telework and help bring attention to how telework can positively impact the revitalization of cities where everyone can benefit, especially in the context of urban living.

A panel discussion will be held in the evening for members of the public on turning Ottawa’s office spaces into better uses to help transform downtown followed by a celebration and dance party featuring DJ Trinidaddy.
