Honouring the life and legacy of renowned labour organizer and author Jane F. McAlevey

On July 7, one of the world’s leading labour activists, authors and organizers, Jane F. McAlevey, passed away after a long battle with multiple myeloma.

She was a fierce and relentless advocate for rank-and-file union members, championing the power of organizing and inspiring tens of thousands to stand in solidarity in the face of big challenges. Her career was spent on the front lines in organizing, and authoring books, articles, and an international organizing training program that has instructed more than 25,000 trade unionists worldwide – all with the goal of empowering workers through their unions to win, both in the workplace and the world.

CAPE celebrates her impact on the labour movement. Her work has helped workers around the world secure big wins – and her legacy will continue to grow as unions (including CAPE) continue to be guided by her voice.

Jane, your work in this world mattered – CAPE will strive to build on your gigantic legacy.

A reminder to CAPE members that several of her books are available to borrow from the national office on a two-week loan. Please connect with us to pick up, or if you’re outside of the NCR, work with your local to request copies. French resources will be coming soon.
