The parties met on May 14, 15 and 16 at the bargaining table. They were assisted by mediators appointed by the Federal Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board. Progress was made on several complex issues. The Employer tabled a comprehensive offer on the second day of the three-day session. The EC bargaining team provided its response in a comprehensive counter-offer the following day.
The Employer needed time to consider the counter-offer, and the parties agreed to return to the table on May 24 to receive and consider the Employer’s response. When the parties reconvened at the table, the Employer provided a new comprehensive offer. While there were still several outstanding issues, and no agreement had been reached, the parties felt that they were moving closer to an agreement and that they were sufficiently close to commit to returning to the table as soon as possible.
Two additional days of bargaining have been scheduled: June 3 and 5. CAPE will issue an update before the end of next week.
