Today, the Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE) marks the 20th anniversary of its formation, when the members of the Social Science Employees Association and the Canadian Union of Professional and Technical Employees voted to join forces.
Since that day in 2003, CAPE has continued to grow not only in size, but in voice and influence. Our more than 25,000 members include economists and statisticians, terminologists, translators and interpreters, policy analysts and researchers. CAPE members are the driving – yet often unseen – force behind government services that benefit all Canadians.
As one of the country’s largest public sector unions, CAPE has become a strong force for positive change, championing our fundamental values of equity, diversity and inclusion in the federal workplace and in communities across the country. Standing shoulder to shoulder with other unions, our Association is integral to the push to improve workers’ rights across the public sector.
The last 20 years have established CAPE as a powerful voice for progress and we will continue to build on that foundation in the decades to come.
Thank you to everyone for being a part of our journey over the past 20 years!
Join us for our Annual General Meeting on November 8 to celebrate 20 years of advocating for our members.
