In the midst of the federal government’s budget cuts, CAPE has made opposing job losses a top priority, urging the government to explore alternative cost-saving options. These include giving up their return-to-office policy to reduce the need for costly office space and associated maintenance costs, as well as cutting back on outsourcing and reducing the layers of senior management within the bureaucracy, among others.
At its monthly November meeting, members of the National Executive Committee discussed the situation at length and explored various options possible to make sure CAPE is as equipped as possible to fight back and help members get through this budget transition.
CAPE is currently working on different ways to support members and hopes to make those available in the new year. These will include education products, information sessions, member strategy roundtables, and more. Stay tuned for updates, where we’ll also ask for members to provide information to help support research and intel on this issue.
