National campaign promoting remote work

Remote works

Federal unions representing more than 330,000 workers have launched a national campaign promoting remote work as the future of work for millions of workers in Canada. The campaign from the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), the Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE) and the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) highlights the benefits of remote work for people in Canada – more productivity, less congestion on our roads, reduced pollution and better work-life balance for families.

With some departments already planning job cuts – and federal leaders calling for a widespread reduction in the size of the public service – remote work presents a better cost-savings alternative. Reducing the federal government’s real estate footprint will save taxpayer dollars and allow for office buildings to be transformed into much-needed housing, daycares or other services that benefit entire communities.

Garnering public support is crucial to winning remote work rights and building a federal public sector that is modernized, flexible and ready and able to take on the challenges of the 21st century.
