CAPE RCMP Civilian Member (CM) Bargaining Committee Update

The CAPE RCMP CM Bargaining Team met with the employer (RCMP and Treasury Board Secretariat) on July 17-18 and September 25-27, 2024.

Discussions took place regarding the collective bargaining proposals on behalf of RCMP CMs in the Economics, Social Sciences and Research RCMP sub-group (SPS-ESS) covered by the Economics and Social Sciences (EC) agreement and the Interpreter/Translator RCMP sub-group (SPS-TRL) covered by the Translation (TR) agreement.

Topics discussed during the past two meetings include:

  • The intricacies and differences between the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act and the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations Act (FPSLRA) as they apply to CMs

  • The differences between the grievance processes available to CMs (under the RCMP act vs. under FPSLRA)

  • Workforce adjustment in case of discharge for the promotion of economy and efficiency in the Force

  • Severance pay provisions

  • Mental health and reintegration into the workplace (graduated return to work)

  • Vacation, sick leave, and disability insurance

The bargaining team will meet again with the employer at the end of November 2024 to continue discussions.
