Masha Davidović was elected as an EC Director in December 2023 – the first time in our union’s history that the EC Director positions were contested and elected rather than acclaimed.
Born in Belgrade during the dissolution of Yugoslavia, Masha immigrated to Canada with her family at an early age and grew up in the Toronto area. She has lived in Ottawa on unceded Algonquin territory for over a decade. She remains a fluent speaker of Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and continues to consider Belgrade and the Balkans home.
Masha has been a public servant for more than six years, serving in a variety of roles at Library and Archives Canada and on her local executive at CAPE Local 519. Her professional life has been focused on increasing public access to history, and on supporting the reclamation of Indigenous histories.
Masha has a long and diverse history of progressive and grassroots activism, especially in Indigenous solidarity and in the feminist and 2SLGBTQI+ space. She is a fierce believer in the power of organized labour and is committed to building a union that empowers public servants as workers, wins strong contracts, and takes its place in the broader labour movement.
