Doug is part of the Members for Change, seeking to transform CAPE to be more democratic, equitable, and transparent. He is currently the Secretary of Local 506 at Transport Canada and a member of the Solidarity Caucus.
Previously, Doug has served as vice president of Local 514 at ESDC, as co-chair of the CAPE Young Members Committee, Inter-Union Youth Caucus and as a member of the Education Committee. He has been involved in campaigns to get CAPE to join the Canadian Labour Congress, pushing back against the Phoenix disaster, protecting the Defence Fund, and our defined benefit pension plans.
Prior to joining government, Doug served as an executive member of CUPE 4207 at Brock University, seeking to advance the interest of teaching assistants and instructors and supporting other unions’ struggles in the post-secondary field in Ontario. Doug also served on the St. Catharines and District Labour Council, where he sought to raise awareness and support the struggles of other local public and private sector unions.
