Workforce adjustment guide for members

As you may be aware, workforce adjustment (WFA) measures have begun rolling out across federal departments and agencies as the employer seeks to reduce operational costs. These changes may have implications for you, CAPE members, and we want to ensure you have the necessary information and support during this time.

In collaboration with of our colleagues at ACFO, CAPE has prepared a guide for EC and TR members to help with questions around the process, which you can download here

To further assist you navigating the complexity of WFA, we will also be offering information sessions starting February. The sessions will be advertised as soon as they are confirmed.

WFA resource page

A new resources page is now available to ease your access to useful information, updates and resources available from CAPE. Follow this link to access it.

Unions pushing back

CAPE and other unions have been publicly opposing WFA and lobbying the employer to reconsider those measures, recommending opting for alternative cost-saving measures that protect jobs.

On January 20, the IRCC announced the imposition of WFA measures, to which CAPE responded with a call to put things on hold until there is more clarity around the national strategy to stand up to US new policies on immigration, which could dramatically impact the IRCC in the coming year.
