As we communicated previously, the TR group reached an impasse after four months of negotiations in June due to a near-total rejection of our proposals, unacceptable concessions sought by the Employer, notably on wage offer as well as a refusal to include provisions on remote interpretation in the collective agreement.
With hope that the parties will reach a mutually beneficial outcome before proceeding to arbitration, CAPE and the Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) have jointly applied to the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board for the appointment of a mediator with the bargaining committee’s approval and hope to resolve the remaining issues.
The parties will be in mediation from October 24 to 26.
If we get significant progress through mediation, additional dates could be set in November. We will keep our TR members updated regarding the progress of the mediation as it unfolds.
