As you may recall, last April we put out a call for volunteers looking for passionate individuals who wished to volunteer to fill two vacant TR director positions on the National Executive Committee (NEC).
Two members of your bargaining unit were nominated and approved by the NEC and are to serve until the next scheduled by-election or general election as stipulated in Article 21.4 of the Bylaws.
In anticipation of the next election in November, it is time to issue a call for nominations to fill those two TR director positions for the remainder of the current NEC term, until December 31, 2023.
If you would like to serve on CAPE’s NEC, you have until Thursday, September 1, 2022, to submit your nomination.
The current members of the committee may also apply if they wish to continue.

Elections are the sole responsibility of the members of the Elections and Resolutions Committee (ERC). All questions related to these elections must be directly send to them at elections2022@acep-cape.ca
>> REPRESENTATION MATTERS
To ensure a diverse set of voices and better representation, we strongly encourage members who identify as being from equity-deserving communities, including Indigenous peoples, people of colour, women, people with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQ+ folks to run for a position on the NEC.
Equally, members representing various races, national or ethnic origins, religions, ages, sex, sexual orientation, marital or family status or genetic characteristics are also strongly encouraged to run.

Candidates must submit one duly completed and signed form before the deadline, or an email in support of the nomination be sent to elections2022@acep-cape.ca before the deadline.

All required documents (nomination forms and biographical notes) must be received at CAPE’s national office by 4:00 p.m. (EDT) on September 1, 2022. Candidates’ biographical notes will be published on CAPE’s website during the election campaign. You may also submit a photo with your biographical information.
Absolutely no documents will be accepted after the September 1 deadline. So now is the time to put the final touches on your submission and make sure it gets to us on time.

1- Duties
NEC members are required to attend annual general meetings and monthly National Executive Committee meetings. They must also participate in various subcommittees and perform duties as assigned by the NEC.
2- Benefits
The position is a voluntary one (unpaid). Members are compensated if the performance of their Association duties requires them to take leave from their government position.
The NEC, as a whole, is responsible for establishing Association objectives, policies and guidelines. The National Executive Committee, subject to membership approval, may propose, vary, or rescind By-laws and exercise executive authority.
