This is National Aboriginal History Month, and on June 21, we celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day - a day of celebration across Canada.
Earlier this year, Auditor General Michael Ferguson criticized the Federal Governments “inability to improve the quality of life of Canada’s Indigenous people.” Ferguson stated that “there are so many discussions about the need to close the socio-economic gaps between Indigenous people and other Canadians in this country, and we don’t see those gaps closing”.
At CAPE, we believe in the importance of celebrating the culture, heritage, and accomplishments of Canada’s First Nations, Inuit and Metis. We encourage you to take part in this year’s celebrations and recognize the significant contribution of Indigenous Peoples to the fabric of Canadian society.
