President's statement
We are all horrified and deeply saddened by the recent discovery of the 215 Indigenous children who were found buried together in Kamloops, British Columbia. Our deepest condolences go to their families and to all Indigenous communities.
The Truth and Reconciliation process cannot go on without recognizing the shameful truths of our past and the immense suffering brought upon the Indigenous communities over decades.
We call on the government to bring justice to the families and to correct the wrongs of our past. This this the only decent way to honour the memory of these children. We mourn today with every family affected by this painful tragedy.
