Our National Executive Committee is the body responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities at CAPE. It’s made up of members just like you, who are elected by the membership.
But the NEC cannot do everything on its own! In order to perform its work, the NEC relies on input from a number of 10 sub-committees made up of CAPE members who are interested in the life and future of their union.
The Elections and Resolutions Committee is particularly in need of volunteers – especially from members in the TR and Library of Parliament groups – because it currently does not have the number of members required under the our constitution for the continued execution of its mandate.
You can help to make your union better by participating in one of the NEC’s sub‑committees. Currently, there are 10 such committees in which members like you can make a difference. They are:
- Audit Committee
- Young Members Committee
- Education Committee
- Mobilization and Job Action Committee
- Elections and Resolutions Committee
- Communications Committee
- Finance Committee
- Constitution and Bylaws Committee
- Complaints Review Committee
- Workplace health and Wellness Committee
For more information on the Elections and Resolutions Committee and on the other NEC sub-committees, visit the NEC sub-committees page on this website. Members interested in volunteering can also contact the chairs of the various sub-committees or CAPE’s national office to learn more about the ongoing work of each committee.
If you are ready to become engaged in the life of your union, you can volunteer to do so immediately: just click here and fill out and submit the application form. You can specify which the committee(s) you would like to join and state the reasons why the NEC should choose you as its next appointee.
CAPE will notify selected members immediately of their appointment to a committee.
Thank you for helping to bring CAPE closer to its members.
