The EC bargaining team has met with the employer on November 3rd and 4th for a mediation session.
As a reminder, EC’s priority this year were compensation and telework.
While the team made some progress in signing off several articles, we did not achieve what we wanted to on our two most important subjects. Consequently, we have reached an impasse, and as such the bargaining team asked the Collective bargaining committee to approve its recommendation to request interest arbitration from the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board. This recommendation was approved and the request has been filed with the Board.
While the team will be preparing our arguments for interest arbitration in 2023, we will also attempt to resolve some of the smaller outstanding issues in order to better focus our principal concerns which will be dealt with at interest arbitration.
