CAPE welcomes Minister Anita Anand to the position of President of the Treasury Board. We look forward to building a strong collaborative relationship with Minister Anand to address some key issues for our members, including the health and safety needs of Parliamentary interpreters, a balanced approach to telework and the return-to-office, and Phoenix payment issues. Addressing Black and Indigenous workers’ needs for more inclusive and equitable workplaces and that of other equity-deserving groups will also be top of CAPE’s agenda.
CAPE is also pleased to see Minister Jean-Yves Duclos take the role of Minister for Public Services and Procurement Canada, the ministry responsible for the Translation Bureau. During Mr. Duclos’ time as President of the Treasury board (2019-2021) CAPE built a productive collaboration with Mr. Duclos. We look forward to continuing this relationship and working together to find a solution to the ongoing health and safety issues faced by Parliamentary interpreters.
