The Education subcommittee is pleased to host a hybrid series of three films on the history of the labour movement and the Left in Canadian history. Imperfect Union: Canadian Labour and the Left explores the birth of trade unions and political parties representing labour, from the beginning of industrialization until the late 1980s.
The three films are:
- Part I: International Background: Canadian Roots (October 24 – 6:00-7:30 pm ET)
- Part II: Born of Hard Times (November 14 – 6:00-7:30 pm ET)
- Part III: Falling Apart and Getting Together (December 12 – 6:00-7:30 pm ET)
Meeting details
Each film runs just under 60 minutes and will be screened at the CAPE National Office as well as online. A short discussion will follow each screening. Please note that we can facilitate in both official languages, but the films are in English.

A light dinner will be served. Seating is limited. If you would like to attend the first screening in person, please confirm your attendance before November 8 to ensure that a seat will be available for you.
