Federal committee adopts CAPE recommendations in Canada Life report

On June 3, the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates released the report from its study into the changeover of the public service healthcare plan from Sun Life to Canada Life.

The Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE) had submitted a written brief in January to the committee which was quoted 13 times in the report. At least one of CAPE’s major recommendations was adopted: “[t]hat the Government of Canada ensure employees who have suffered financial loss as a result of Canada Life's unjustified delays or denials of claims are fully compensated for these losses.”

The committee has requested that the government table a comprehensive response to its report.
