Position summary

Under the direction of the general counsel and director of policy, the legal counsel provides legal advice on the interpretation of CAPE’s Constitution and By-laws, and on all legislation under which CAPE operates or under which its members are employed. Under the general supervision of the general counsel, the legal counsel may be called upon to provide legal advice to CAPE management staff and labour relations officers on complex human resources and labour relations matters. This includes performing requisite-related research, drafting policies of the association, and providing legal opinions on various matters including federal government policies affecting the association or its members. This role may also represent CAPE in mediation or arbitration before the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board, the Ontario Labour Board, and other judicial settings.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Senior Advisor, President’s office, the Digital Organizer will create and manage CAPE’s overarching digital strategy and infrastructure to support member organizing. They will work collaboratively and coordinate with other divisions, key staff, and multidisciplinary teams across CAPE to help embed digital engagement strategy, data-driven best practices, analytics and tools for building a successful organizing model and running a successful network of leaders and organizers.

The Digital Organizer will work collaboratively with the Organizing, Communications and Public Affairs, and IT/IM teams to help boost and maintain active membership at all levels of the association through the design and implementation of a robust data and analytics program, as well as the maintenance of various digital tools and channels.

The Digital Organizer will leverage a combination of interpersonal skills, strategic thinking and planning, and knowledge of labour laws to engage and increase participation with members and allies online and offline. As a subject matter specialist, they will provide expert advice to the Senior Advisor and President, helping to shape CAPE’s organizing strategic direction.
